Mazurek Enterprises (ME) was founded in 2021 by Zach Mazurek in Toronto, ON, to facilitate exploration of business avenues including: offering engineering services related to personal interests and experience, exercising hands-on skills, evaluating commercial potential of hobbies, and entirely new paths related to energy transition technologies.
Our mission is to provide hands-on, friendly, and reliable engineering services by applying hard work, creative problem solving, and an optimistic attitude.
In 2023, we aim to expand and diversify our client base, further develop mechanical design and prototyping capabilities by investing in new knowledge and equipment, and explore internal development, manufacturing, and sale of products.
Zach was born and raised in Brockville, Ontario, where his grandfather Bruce Mazurek, a hard working Polish immigrant, landed in 1957 to purchase and lead a well-established bakery and raise his growing family with his wife Henrietta. Tait's Bakery remains a downtown Brockville staple to this day, under new ownership.
Zach's greatest interests during childhood were consistently the two M's: Machines and Music. His family strongly supported him in the pursuit of these by providing space, tolerance for loud noise, openness, and equipment. This support was not surprising given the close alignment between these interests and his mother Claudine's experience growing up in Spaniard's Bay, Newfoundland, steeped deeply in both of those M's. He played drums and learned to play guitar and bass by ear in the basement, and during high school, joined a band, performing for as many as 5000 people, and spent other personal time in his parents' two-car garage with projects such as building a small boat, rebuilding a 1987 Chevrolet truck, and operating a small machine repair business.
While pursing a trade had been considered in earlier years, the decision to pursue Mechanical Engineering Technology at Georgian college in Barrie, Ontario was ultimately made, as the Technologist path provided an appealing mix of creative design, and hands-on elements. Three co-op periods working in manufacturing environments among technical people and discussions with them encouraged Zach to continue his studies at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, with the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering program.
After graduating from Lakehead University, Zach explored Canada for two months by train, then moved to Toronto to access to its world-class arts scenes, collaborate with local musicians, and start his engineering career.
